Roland Garros (or the French Open) is the second Grand Slam of the year and the only one held on clay courts. The event ends, somehow, the spring clay season.

However, the French Open was also played on grass courts, in the begining years. The total prize money (for both WTA and ATP) is around €16.5 million, but the value changes every year, usually going up.

The tournament is played on outdoor clay courts on two main stadiums (Court Philippe Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen) and on other 18 small tennis courts.
