Samantha Stosur
Samantha Stosur is a tennis player from Australia, who is probably better known for being a doubles player rather than singles. Despite being an Australian national, Samantha Stosur is of Polish descent. It was only through accident that her family moved to Adelaide when she was child, which again paved way for her tennis career.
Even though she is regarded as a very good player in the singles tournaments, it is really the doubles tournament at Samantha Stosur shines along with American Lisa Raymond. Her highest ranking as a singles player was the fourth position, which she held during February 2011.
It was a position that was resulted due to the impressive showing at the 2010 French Open, which remains the best singles tournament till date. Samantha Stosur has won two Grand Slam Doubles tournaments, with the first coming in the 2005 Australian open and the last being the 2008 Wimbledon. She also has a total of 23 WTA doubles titles that once again show her expertise in playing with a partner.
Even though results may not be as shining in the singles tournaments, it is much better than most of the Australian women tennis players. She has not won a Grand Slam singles title, but she has reached the final on one occasion and that being the 2010 French Open.
She has also reached the 2010 U.S. Open quarter finals making the year quite memorable in many ways. Having been a professional since 1999, she has racked up a total of more than $6 million when it comes to prize money and she is regarded as one of the top Australian players right now.
